<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Name a more perfect breakfast meat than bacon. I&#8217;ll wait.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Bacon is even better when you bake it in the oven! <br>No mess or splattering grease and it gets perfectly crispy every day. <br>Check out my guide for <a href="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/baking-bacon/">&nbsp;How To Bake Bacon in the Oven</a> for more reasons why baked bacon is the best.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Of course, we think<strong> Oven Baked Bacon</strong> is even better when you add sugar and spice and everything nice! <b><br></b>Candied bacon is a beautiful thing. It only takes 3 ingredients and 1 baking pan. <br>In about 20 minutes, your Cajun Sugared Bacon will be golden brown, crispy and ready to turn an ordinary meal into something divine.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="1500" src="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN5.jpg" alt="Ingredients for Cajun Candied Bacon." class="wp-image-21826" srcset="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN5.jpg 1000w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN5-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN5-453x680.jpg 453w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN5-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN5-150x225.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-candied-bacon-with-3-ingredients">Candied Bacon with 3 ingredients</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Here&#8217;s all you need to make this spicy bacon recipe.</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>bacon</li>

<li>brown sugar</li>

<li>Cajun seasoning</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-what-cajun-seasoning-is-best"><strong>What Cajun seasoning is best? </strong></h2>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">That all depends on your preferences. <br>You can find tasty blends of cajun seasoning in the spice aisle at the grocery store or whip up a homemade version. (My friend Mary over at Barefeet in the Kitchen swears by <a href="https://barefeetinthekitchen.com/cajun-seasoning/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">this one!</a>) </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">That Cajun flavor is the best and can be used to make so many different recipes like my <a href="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/day-359-jambalaya/">Jambalaya</a> or this <a href="https://www.troprockin.com/crock-pot-cajun-chicken-pasta/">Crockpot Cajun Chicken Pasta</a>. </p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Of course, the spicier the seasoning blend, the spicier your baked candied bacon will taste. <br>I tend to go a little lighter on the heat for myself, but add more to the rest of the batch for other family members.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="1500" src="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN4.jpg" alt="Bacon ready to be baked in the oven." class="wp-image-21827" srcset="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN4.jpg 1000w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN4-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN4-453x680.jpg 453w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN4-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN4-150x225.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-how-to-make-candied-bacon">How to make candied bacon</h3>

<ol class="wp-block-list">
<li>Line two rimmed baking sheets with foil and then with a sheet of parchment. <br>Place the bacon strips evenly over the foil in a single layer and so they are not touching.</li>

<li>Sprinkle the brown sugar and Cajun spice evenly over each piece of bacon.</li>

<li>Put the baking sheets into a cold oven on the center rack. <br>Turn it on to 400 degrees.</li>

<li>Cook until bacon is done and crisped up to your liking. <br>Drain on paper towels and enjoy! </li>
</ol>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-tips-for-best-sugared-bacon">Tips for best sugared bacon</h3>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>If both baking sheets don&#8217;t fit in the center rack, you can place them each on different racks. </li>

<li>Make sure to watch it carefully when it approaches the 17-minute mark. <br>You want the bacon to be a golden crisp, but not burnt.</li>

<li>The amount of time your bacon takes to cook depends on the thickness of your slices and how hot your oven tends to run. <br>Thicker bacon slices may take closer to 21 or 22 minutes to get that candied crisp consistency. </li>

<li>Also, one pan may cook more quickly than the other, so be sure to keep a close eye on each, removing one before the other if needed.</li>
</ul>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="h-serving-suggestions">Serving Suggestions</h3>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Real talk?<br>I could happily gobble up a whole plate of this Cajun Sugared Bacon on its own. <br>I&#8217;m hooked on the stuff.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">If you can resist eating it all straight from the oven with your hands, you can add it to tons of dishes to add instant flavor and spice.&nbsp;</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Try chopping it up and tossing it in your favorite simple <a href="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/summer-salad-recipes/">Summer Salad</a> or rolling it in a wrap with spinach, onion and tomato. <br>It&#8217;s also delicious with a side of scrambled eggs and toast for an easy, flavorful breakfast.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Oh, and it&#8217;s pure bliss served alongside a stack of <a href="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/zucchini-pancakes/">Pancakes</a> or <a href="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/baked-blueberry-waffles/">Waffles</a> with maple syrup. <br>You could even fold it into a batch of homemade scones or biscuits for a protein rich on-the-go breakfast treat. There&#8217;s really no wrong way to enjoy this candied bacon.&nbsp;</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img decoding="async" width="1000" height="1500" src="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN3.jpg" alt="A slice of candied bacon with cajun spices." class="wp-image-21824" srcset="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN3.jpg 1000w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN3-200x300.jpg 200w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN3-453x680.jpg 453w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN3-768x1152.jpg 768w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/Cajun-Sugared-Bacon-PIN3-150x225.jpg 150w" sizes="(max-width: 1000px) 100vw, 1000px" /></figure>

<p>We had this dish at my mother-in law&#8217;s when we went back east for Christmas.<br />
She found it at <a href="https://www.marthastewart.com/326882/bacon-wrapped-chicken-tenders" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Everyday Food</a>. Of course, it wasn&#8217;t baked and I added the bread crumbs to it.</p>

<p><u>Bacon Sage Wrapped Chicken</u> &#8211; serves 4</p>
<p>2 large chicken breasts, sliced into 1-inch thick slices, made about 14 pieces or you can use chicken tenders which is what the original recipe calls for<br />
1 egg<br />
1 cup Panko bread crumbs<br />
3/4 teaspoon Lawry&#8217;s Seasoned Salt<br />
Fresh sage leaves<br />
1 package center-cut bacon</p>
<p>Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with tin foil (I was out), and placing a wire rack into the sheet. Spray the baking rack with cooking spray.<br />
In a shallow dish, combine bread crumbs and Lawry&#8217;s Seasoned Salt.<br />
In a separate shallow dish, beat egg.<br />
Coat a piece of chicken completely with egg.<br />
Coat chicken piece with bread crumbs completely on both sides.<br />
Repeat with remaining chicken.</p>
<div><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-1740" src="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0674.jpg" width="400" height="266" border="0" srcset="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0674.jpg 400w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0674-300x199.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /></div>
<p>Put a sage leaf on a piece of chicken and roll a bacon slice around the chicken to secure the sage. You will not need toothpicks, the bacon will stay wrapped around the meat pretty well.<br />
For the larger pieces of chicken I used 2 sage leaves and 2 pieces of bacon. I also think the center-cut bacon is shorter, so if you use the regular slices, you may not need two.<br />
Place pieces on prepared baking sheet.</p>
<div><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-1744" src="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0684.jpg" width="400" height="266" border="0" srcset="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0684.jpg 400w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0684-300x199.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /></div>
<p>Bake for 45 minutes.</p>
<div><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-1746" src="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0688.jpg" width="400" height="258" border="0" srcset="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0688.jpg 400w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0688-300x193.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /></div>
<p>Place under broiler for 2-3 minutes until bacon is crisp, if desired.</p>
<p><b>Whole Grain Mustard Dipping Sauce</b><br />
1/2 cup mayonnaise<br />
1 1/2 teaspoons whole grain mustard</p>
<p>In a small bowl. combine mayonnaise and mustard. Mix thoroughly and serve with chicken, if desired.</p>
<div><img decoding="async" class="aligncenter wp-image-1749" src="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0695.jpg" width="400" height="266" border="0" srcset="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0695.jpg 400w, https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/DSC_0695-300x199.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px" /></div>
<p>I rate everything I bake on a scale of 1-4 with 4 being the best and this Bacon Sage Wrapped Chicken earned 3 1/2 rolling pins.</p>
<p>It was good the way I made it, and the Panko bread crumbs added a nice crunch. The broiler in my oven is not working since our oven died and Mr. 365 traded the broiler igniter for the oven igniter and hasn&#8217;t replaced it yet.</p>
<p>I really wanted the oven crisper, uh, no, I meant I wanted the <i>BACON</i> that was wrapped around the chicken crisper. I really can&#8217;t stand chewy bacon. So, since the broiler isn&#8217;t functional I took out my handy dandy kitchen creme brulee blow torch and fired that baby up.</p>
<p>Uh, that didn&#8217;t work so well. It <i>kind of</i> made the bacon a little more well done, but in the process, it also burnt some of the bread crumbs. I think you should use your broiler.</p>
