Ingredients
1pintstrawberries
1pintblueberries
12ouncesblackberries
12tablespoonsbutter,melted
½teaspoonsalt
⅔cupsugar
½cupmilk
1large egg
1 ½cupsflour
2teaspoonsbaking powder
Instructions
First, preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Pour 4 tablespoons of your melted butter into an 8x8-inch pan and spread it evenly in the bottom of the pan.
Next, wash and drain all your berries. Combine them in a large bowl and gently stir to distribute them evenly.
In a separate bowl, mix together ¼ teaspoon of salt and ¼ cup of the sugar. Pour the salt/sugar mixture over the berry mixture and stir gently to coat.
Transfer the berries to the prepared baking dish and set it aside.
Pour the remaining melted butter into a mixing bowl. Add the milk and egg and beat well.
Mix the dry ingredients (flour, baking powder, remaining salt, and remaining sugar) in a large bowl. Now add the wet ingredients into the flour mixture and beat together until smooth.
Place the batter on top of the berry filling in 9 large dollops. You can spread it out to cover the top evenly, but you don’t have to.
Bake for about 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the dough comes out clean. The filling should be hot and bubbly, and the topping a nice golden brown. If you find it’s browning too quickly, you can cover it with foil.
