This Baked Applesauce stands head and shoulders above anything from a jar! Warming cinnamon spice and a hint of vanilla are baked with apple chunks to create a sauce that smells as delicious as it tastes.

Ingredients
8applesI used 4 Granny Smith and 4 Honeycrisp
½cupsugar
1teaspooncinnamon
1teaspoonvanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350ºF.
Prepare a 2 1/2 quart baking dish by spraying it with cooking spray.
In a small bowl, combine sugar, cinnamon and vanilla. Mix well.
Peel, core and cut apples into slices.
Place apples into a large bowl.
Pour sugar mixture over apples and toss to coat.
Pour apples into prepared baking dish and cover with tin foil.
Bake for 45-60 minutes, or until apples are tender.
Uncover and use a potato masher to crush the apples.
Serve warm.
Notes
Occasionally, the baking dish will overflow while it's baking, so I like to put the dish on a aluminum foil-lined baking sheet to prevent it from spilling into the oven. You can always use an oven-safe large pot to cook it in as well and disregard the baking sheet.
