I grew up in a household with 2 chefs formally trained that is. I felt as if I was a wee plum tree growing up amongst the redwoods as it were. Similarly to you, I began cooking with my son, who has special dietary needs. I had to learn to make ordinary condiments that you take for granted. From there, was bread baking and casseroles. It was a tough learning curve with no one to turn to. Thank goodness for Food shows and Julia Childs. Today, everything is available either on blogs like yours or on tv, books, Facebook etc. No one need feel inadequate truly, there are so many helping hands.
