Kelly, you most definitely can leave the frosting off of them if you'd like. It's not one of the essential ingredients like the marshmallows would be, and they'll be quite delicious without it, too!

In reply to <a href="https://www.365daysofbakingandmore.com/reeses-peanut-butter-rice-krispies-treats/#comment-5246">Connie</a>.

Connie, I'm sorry those didn't work out for you, but at least you were able to get some of your aggressions out, right? ;-)
I have actually made them using the larger Reese's Pieces, but only use about 1 1/4 cup in the recipe. That will work if you're unable to find the smaller ones next time. Thanks for your comment and enjoy eating them again!

I could not find Reeses "Mini" Pieces at my large grocery store. I thought, why not just smash some Reeses pieces? I put some in a ziplock bag & hit them with a hammer. Lol! This did not work well at all. It was so thick I couldn't add the 2nd half of the Rice Krispies! It still tasted good--no, terrific!!--, but I say "Hold out for the real deal--MINI Reeses Pieces!" Otherwise, this will be a favorite in the future for sure!
