I use the sliced individually wrapped cheese. I just cut small pieces and wrap it around the pills. My dog has to take thyroid pills twice a day as well as benadryl. She watches me wrap them but takes them without a problem.

This was a super simple recipe and yielded great results! I think I’ll try it again with chicken broth instead of water, my pup is a little picky lol

Excellent! I just made 1 ball and stored it in a small store and seal. I also grinded up some oats for future use. All stored in fridge. Thankyou so much for sharing!

I’ve used Bob’s Red Mill oat flour, rice flour, and chickpea flour. The oat flour seems to work best. My dog doesn’t seem to care for the chickpea flour, not sure why. When I use oat flour, I use 1-2/3 parts of flour to one of water and peanut butter, else they’re too crumbly when chilled. With the rice flour, I use the full 2 parts of flour. Also, I don’t bother making individual “pockets”, I just keep the dough in a ball in a sealed container, and pinch off what I need.

Store pill pockets are expensive & have lots of ingredients I prefer not to give my pup. I have tried different ways to give my pup his meds and he won’t have any of it but these pill holders are the best. He jumps, all excited to take his meds. It is so quick & easy to whip up a batch and then to mold around the pill. 5 stars

My rescue husky Apollo (5) has Seizures and needs to take pills 4x a day. 2 separated medications. He was tired of the cheese we used to hide them in, was ok with pill pockets, but it was getting expensive. He loves these homemade “treat” pill pockets. Now my other husky (8) who is not sick, wants them too.
