Maureen, in my recipe I used medium grain rice. I know that jasmine rice requires less water for cooking than medium grain. So, if the same amount of water was used to cook the jasmine rice as is required for medium grain rice than that definitely would have been a contributing factor as to why yours came out soupy.

D. I have not used brown rice in this recipe, so not sure what the results would be, and can’t say that it would definitely work as a substitute for the white medium grain rice. I suggest specifically Googling a recipe for rice pudding made with brown rice as I’m sure there are some out there.
